A New Production of our Holiday tradition!

plus music of Cécile Chaminade, Jessie Montgomery, Jennifer Higdon, and Nancy Galbraith

Our holiday tradition this year returns to Menotti's beloved Amahl & the Night Visitors!  This season we're taking Amahl to the North Side and the New Hazlett Theater in a new production from stage director Matthew Haney, Pittsburgh Opera's resident artist stage director.  Mezzo-soprano Olga Perez Flora makes her Resonance Works debut, alongside returning artists Jonathan Stuckey (Macbeth, Amahl, On the Town), Christopher Scott (On the Town, Side by Side by Sondheim), and Robert Chafin (Evidence of Things Not Seen.)

Auditions for the role of Amahl will be held on September 29.  For more info and to apply for an audition, click here!

This year the first half of the program will include one of the staples of the flute repertoire, the Concertino by Cécile Chaminade.  Flutist Lindsey Goodman, who wowed with the world premiere of Galbraith's Flute Concerto in May, now takes on this romantic work from over a century ago by another exceptional woman! Works by Jessie Montgomery, Jennifer Higdon, and Pittsburgh’s own Nancy Galbraith complete this holiday celebration for the whole family!
