Our acclaimed Reson8 Vocal Octet is back! Reson8: Hero Songs features the live premiere of Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi’s song cycle of the same name. Originally composed for the Decameron Opera Coalition’s HEROES opera-film anthology project, “Hero Songs” is a meditation on heroism and service, contemplating the past, present, and future of fortitude, effort, and sacrifice. Interwoven with this thought-provoking cycle are works by Joel Thompson, Rosephanye Powell, Damian Geter, Reena Esmail, Melissa Dunphy, and more, each carefully chosen to complement and expand on the themes of Hero Songs. Together, they form a unified musical journey that amplifies the many dimensions of what it means to be a hero in today’s world

The seed of these concerts is Hero Songs,  a song cycle by our long-time collaborators, composer Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi. This thoughtful and powerful piece was originally created in 2021 HEROES, the second film anthology project of the Decameron Opera Coalition in 2021. The original Hero Songs videos are now available to watch on YouTube, and Peter and Matt have kindly sent us short introductions for the cycle and each of the songs.
